What do you need from your community to be seen?

I can’t say that MCAD itself is listening, that these walls can hear us.  I also can’t say that those who run this place are listening, as that’s not part of the premise of this piece.  Maybe they are, as they too, are our community and are welcomed into this space.

This is for us.

For the community that has come out of this place –          no matter when and why and how we came to know each other.

We are present.

We listen.

We hold each other through these stories.

What keeps us coming back here?  What does an institution really mean to us?  Places like MCAD uniquely hold our dreams.  Our hopes, aspirations, and for some and for a time, financial implications.  It’s a place charged with feeling.

We are present.

We listen.

We hold each other through these stories.

What is this?

This is an art installation that has both a physical presence on campus at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, and a digital presence here in the form of this website.

This website will serve as the landing place for our community stories & thoughts, and as a way for those who aren't on campus during the summer of 2024 to engage.

The on-campus portion of the show runs from July 4th – August 4th.

This website will be active for 1 year.

Let's stay in touch

Add your email to this list and look out for updates and ways to engage this upcoming year.

Until then – I'll hold this space for you.

Thanks for joining us!
